Spring Begins at Gyeongbokgung (경복궁) Palace
Spring is an amazing time in Seoul. The cherry blossoms start blooming, couples are out walking, the weather is beginning to warm up. Perfect time to go to Gyeongbokgung Palace for a little stroll. It was a bit rainier and colder than when I went last year, and there were more people since it was later in the season. I could say all kinds of things about the palace, but why give a history lesson when Wikipedia can do it for me! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gyeongbokgung My fa

Food Friday 4.17.2015
Grapefruit beer and fried chicken gizzards in Hongdae. I had this at lunch with a Korean friend and he was quite surprised that I, as an American, would eat gizzards. Blame my Southern mother. Thanks Mom! Egg bread from a street vendor in Hongdae. The bread tastes exactly like sweet cornbread and since I love egg so, so much, this is one of my new favorite quick bites. Clams and...maggots (I have no idea what they really are, what bug they turn into, or what they are called).

Let another Food Friday commence!!! Yukhoe bibimbap (육회 비빔밥) from a traditional Korean food restaurant in Insadong. Yes, that IS raw beef, and it was extremely good. The photo in the middle is the banchan (반찬, side dishes). Almost every meal comes with banchan, almost always kimchi and/or pickled radish, and the selection is different depending on the restaurant you go to. Apricot citrus tea at a tea shop in Insadong. Love me some juk (죽) in the Hongdae area. So much juk. Thi

A Walk in Haneul Park (하늘공원)
When my friend Cherry, who works at the guesthouse I am staying at in Hongdae, Seoul, said the night before, "We are going for a walk in the morning, you should come!" I had no problem saying yes. Waking up the next day with a stomachache almost made me change my mind but when Cherry popped her head in my room, I decided it would be worth it. And it was. The group consisted of two guesthouse staff (Cherry and Aline), three guests from Singapore, and myself. Just a short metro

Hope you enjoy the first ever Wandering Radish Food Friday!!! All you can eat Korean BBQ. Fantastic Ramen at a little Japanese place in Hongdae (we waited in line for this, and it was incredibly worth it). Tasty jajangmyeon (짜장면) ordered by my friend... ...and manduguk (만두국) from a little alleyway place in Sinchon. Bulgogi (불고기) before... ...and after, in Hongdae. Conveyor line sushi in Sinchon (the sushi was...different...from Japanese sushi, not that great, but really fun).
